Shadow of the Colossus Movie Adaptation

Kotaku posted news of a movie recreation of the brilliant Shadow of the Colossus and at first, people were excited, however the next part caused uproar:

"According to the Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog, Sony Pictures will be tackling Shadow of the Colossus for a movie adaptation with producer Kevin Misher, responsible for films such as The Scorpion King and The Interpreter, as well as the upcoming fighting movie Fighting. Now here's where it gets... rough. Got that drink yet?"

So he's only the producer and there's no gurantee he'll be the one to produce it. I'm having mixed feelings. I haven't seen the new Street Fighter but I have heard it's average. That's not SoC.

SoC is a materpiece and it shouldn't even have a movie. Personally if they want to share the beauty that is SoC, then make a new game or port it to PS3. Go nuts on advertisements!

Either way I will most likely see it since SoC is not something one misses.

Hmm, well that's a bit of a mixed bag of movie credits! I'm not entirely sure I saw The Scorpion King, I suspect I wrote it off as a cash-in on the success of The Mummy films.

That said, The Interpreter was actually a really good film, I thought, so you never know, maybe Shadow of the Colossus will get the treatment it deserves.

I still agree though, it shouldn't be made into a film. It seems to be the end product for anything popular these days=(

I agree. I haven't seen one good game movie adaptation and I don't expect this to be any better.

Thats pretty cool, i am really looking forward to it.

It will (hopefully) end up awesome because the game plays like a movie anyway.

Ah but that kinda seems to be the fault. The game is so great at immersing the player and I feel the movie takes away the great aspect of the game which is the fact "you" are the one doing all this.

I hope it works out though, I really do!
